Apple iPhones are the most popular phone sold at all four of our locations in Saskatoon and so we wanted to provide our customers with some tips and tricks to try out. There is no doubt that for many of you, your iPhone is everything to you and you probably think you know it like the back of your hand. But we’re betting there are some cool features that you haven’t discovered yet that will leave you saying, “I had no idea it could do that!”
Our wireless experts at Bolt Mobile have put together a list of their favorite iPhone tips, tricks, and hacks.
1. Flashlight Intensity
For iPhone 6s and higher, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center. Press deep into the flashlight button to reveal three different modes – low, medium and high intensity! Perfect for those late night stair climbs up to bed.
2. Shut Multiple Apps At Once
If you need to shut multiple applications quickly, drag three fingers up on the multitasking menu to cast-off the clutter faster.
3. Type out Web Addresses Faster
Save time typing out those long web addresses by holding down the period button to bring up a short-cut series of URL suffixes like .com, .net, .edu, .org and other classics.
4. Find Out How Much Your Phone Knows About Your Whereabouts
Head to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations. Here you can see where you’ve been and how long you spent there.
5. Correct Siri
Siri say something wrong? Just tell it so. Follow up a mistake by saying “That’s not how you pronounce…” and wait for Siri to ask for the correct pronunciation.
6. Charge Your Phone Faster
Go into Flight Safe mode. When you knock out all your phone’s Wi-Fi-searching, and it’s not fighting background processes, you’ll power up quicker.
7. Create Custom Replies for Missed Calls
Go to Settings > Phone > Respond With Text. Create a custom message that will be sent to the person whose call you missed. Try these!
“Out to lunch.”
8. Undo Typing by Rattling Your iPhone
Give your iPhone a shake, and it will ask you if you want to Undo Typing. Try it!
9. Limit App Access to Save Data Allowance
Go to Settings > Mobile Data. Decide which apps get the data allowance love and which ones get demoted.
10. Stop Your Camera’s Focal Point from Disappearing Every Time You Move It
Twist and turn your camera without losing focus. Instead of just tapping the screen, press for a second or two until an AE/AF Lock box pops up.
11. Custom Vibrations!
In Contacts, select a person you want to create a custom vibration for and hit Edit. You’ll see a Vibration option. Selecting this gives you options the Create New Vibration tool. Tap a custom beat!
12. Set Your Music to Turn Off on a Timer
In the Clock app, head to the Timer options. Under the ‘When Time Ends’ tag, you can switch out the alarm option for a ‘Stop Playing’ tag. And when the timer hits zero, the tunes turn off.
13. No Dedicated Back Button? Just Swipe Right
Swiping from left to right on some apps like Safari, Mail, and Messages will send you back to the previous page or menu.
