Operation Lifeline

Help us share the love!

When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, we realized people were going to be isolated from their family and friends, and so we wanted to step in and help out. We were committed to helping our community stay connected through the pandemic. Patients with COVID-19 were being quarantined in their hospital beds and residents in care homes were being isolated without any visitors. It's crucial that these people were able to connect with their family and friends through these unprecedented circumstances. We made a difference with "Operation Lifeline". To date, we've donated hundreds of devices to over 50 facilities across the province.

Phones are still being sanitized and refurbished before being delivered to hospitals, care homes and at-risk youth. People receiving these phones are able to FaceTime or Skype, connecting them with family and friends. For some, these phones and tablets are being utilized as a tool to help them carry out their day-to-day activities.

Although we're moving through the Covid-19 pandemic, Operation Lifeline continues to play a vital role in our community. Donated phones and tablets are being sent out across the province to those that need them most.

If your hospital, care home facility or organization is interested in receiving donated devices, please contact us today by calling 306-668-4653. If you have an old phone or tablet you don't use anymore, consider donating it to Operation Lifeline. Help us give by donating your old devices today!

Bolt Mobile donates $5000 award to Operation Lifeline

We are so honoured to be nominated and to be a recipient of the Conexus Credit Union Kindness Capital Fund for our work with Operation Lifeline! We received $5000 that put right back into the program to help more and more people in Saskatchewan!

We purchased 15 iPads and 5 tablets to help fulfill the demand throughout Saskatchewan. Together with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, we've now donated several hundred devices to over 50 hospitals, care homes and facilities across the province. We're super proud of our team for stepping up to make a difference in helping connect patients and residents with their loved ones.

Thanks again to Conexus for the great work you're doing in our community as it helps us continue to do what we're doing. #InThisTogether

How To Donate

That old phone sitting in your junk drawer at home can make a difference in someone's life today. Please ensure the phone is wiped to factory and in good working condition (no cracked screen or broken buttons). Please sanitize the device thoroughly and place in a Ziploc bag.

Once received, our team will again sanitize each device thoroughly and ensure everything is ready to go for the recipient.

You can drop off devices at any of our four Bolt Mobile locations in Saskatoon without ever leaving your vehicle. Simply pull up, give us a call, and one of our associates will safely receive your donation.

Android or iOS devices are recommended. The person receiving the device will need to be able to connect to Wi-Fi and use the camera for FaceTime, Zoom or Skype.

If your phone is broken or the screen is cracked, we could refurbish on a case by case basis.

Yes, definitely. We're accepting all phones and tablets in good working condition with no broken screens and a working camera. People will be using the device to FaceTime or Skype with their loved ones.

Please wipe down the entire device to protect against germs and viruses. If you can't clean your device, please do not donate to ensure the safety of our staff and the recipients.

Great question! We put together a blog post exactly for this. Here is a link and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us and we can help.

No. Unfortunately, it will be tough to track and return each device that is donated. That being said, the devices will remain at the hospital or care home for those that need it. Know that your device will be getting great use versus sitting in your drawer at home.

We're working with the local hospitals and care homes in Saskatoon and will allocate devices accordingly. If you operate a care home or are interested in receiving devices for your patients at your hospital, please reach out to us at 306-668-4653 or email [email protected].

You bet! We've already donated dozens of devices to several facilities in Saskatoon and throughout Saskatchewan, including both the Palliative Care unit and 7th Floor Medicine at St. Paul's Hospital, Parkridge Centre, Sherbrooke Community Centre, Victoria Park Care Home and Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism in Regina, Heritage Manor in Kindersley, and more. We're working on refurbishing a number of devices to continue to donate throughout Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. Help us make a difference!

Each donated device will be provided to the hospitals and care homes in a secure box with instructions on how to use Skype and/or FaceTime to connect with their loved ones.

Wi-Fi will be required to utilize the apps and software.

Due to the high demand, we're working exclusively with hospitals, care homes and organizations. As for who is eligible, we're leaving this up to the hospital or care home receiving the device(s). They will determine who needs a device to be able to connect with their family and friends. Devices will be given back to the hospital or care home when no longer in use.
