5 Tips to Keep Your iPhone in Good Working Condition

You just purchased a new iPhone from Bolt Mobile, your SaskTel Authorized Dealer in Saskatoon, and you want to keep it in prime condition.

Ensuring your phone is kept in excellent working condition should be a priority for two reasons. The first reason is that it will lengthen its lifespan. The second reason is that it gets you the best resale value when it’s time to upgrade or trade it in.

Here are 5 tips to keep your iPhone in the best condition:

1. Protect Your Screen with a Shield

It’s true that iPhone screens are tough to begin with. However, every user is different, and no matter how careful you are, it’s still wise to take that precautionary step and protect your phone’s screen with a shield. They are thin yet ultra-tough and will protect your phone from scratches, moisture, and dirt. You may want to protect both the front and the rear of your phone.

2. Use a Good Phone Case

With so many options in cases, you can enjoy both protection and aesthetics. Some cases are even military-grade and will absorb bumps and accidental drops. And then there are cases that make your phone waterproof to a certain extent. Get the feel of a new phone every month by having a collection of cases! Choose between bumpers, shells, snap-ons – the options are endless. Visit any of our 4 Bolt Mobile locations in Saskatoon and our wireless experts will help you with all your phone accessories.

3. Maximize Battery Life and Lifespan

Batteries are at risk of early degradation when they are not charged properly. Avoid extreme ambient temperatures.

Your device is designed to perform well in a wide range of ambient temperatures, with 16° to 22° celsius as the ideal comfort zone. Charging your device in high ambient temperatures can damage it.

To preserve battery life, optimize your settings. Adjust your screen brightness to extend battery life. To dim, just swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center. Drag the Brightness slider to the left. Auto-Brightness automatically adjusts your screen to lighting conditions. To activate, go to Settings > Display & Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On. And remember that using a Wi-Fi connection uses more power than a cellular network; opt for Wi-Fi when you can.

4. Only Download Apps and Media Files from Reliable Sources

Unless you want your iPhone to be infected by malware and risk damaging your phone permanently, don’t download apps and media files from untrustworthy sources. And if you don’t, you might end up with infected file and will have to reboot your phone.

5. Protect Your Phone From the Weather

Saskatoon has severe winters with freezing temperatures and warm summers with hot sun shining down. During these seasons, don’t leave your phone exposed to the elements.

Your iPhone screen will be sensitive to cracks and breaks if left in the cold weather. And it will roast under the hot sun if you leave it in your car that will feel like an oven when parked in the summer heat. So remember, keep your phone warm during the Winter and cool during the Summer.
